Top Tree started in 2004 and is owned by Ryan Hone, an ISA Certified Arborist (#PN-8664A). The team also includes ISA Certified Arborist Rob Wellington (#PN-384050A). These certifications matter because professional tree care is judgment work—knowing which branch to cut, which tree to save, and which one truly has to come down. Today, that arborist-led expertise runs through the whole company: two certified arborists, five to six crews dispatched daily, and an office that keeps every job on schedule.

The People Behind the Work
Ryan Hone

Ryan grew up in and around trees — from pruning his first cherry tree as a kid to working through college cutting and selling firewood, and later flying aerial surveys of pine-beetle infestations over the mountains of Idaho and Nevada. That range of hands-on experience is behind the way Top Tree cares for trees, and he is still expanding it — learning has never stopped being part of the job.
Sean Kendall
General Manager
Sean recently joined Top Tree Service as our General Manager, bringing a strong background in leadership and team development. He has spent his career in management roles focused on building teams, improving operations, and supporting long-term growth. Sean works closely with both our office staff and field crews to keep everything aligned. In his role, he is focused on continuing to grow the business while maintaining the level of service our customers have come to expect.
Phil Williams
Lead Sales Estimator
Phil has been with Top Tree since 2016. He started on the crew and worked his way up to estimator, and now coordinates larger-scale projects with commercial clients — while still happily meeting with homeowners, bringing the same knowledge to every job.
Rob Wellington
Sales Estimator · ISA Certified Arborist

Rob joined in the fall of 2015 and spent several years as a foreman before moving to estimating in 2024. Years of hands-on tree work plus his ISA certification mean the proposal you get from Rob is grounded in how the job actually goes, not just how it looks on paper.
Mason Griggs
Plant Health Care Sales & Technician
Mason joined in 2015 and ran tree crews as a foreman until Top Tree launched its Plant Health Care division in 2020, when he stepped into the lead role. Several years of leading PHC operations mean he knows which methods and products fit each tree’s specific problem.
Tanner Pentecost
Crew Operations Lead
Tanner came to Top Tree in 2024 with fifteen years of tree care experience. He started as a lead foreman and moved into operations, where he manages crew members, oversees equipment, and keeps daily operations running — making sure crews head out on time and arrive ready to work.
Rhonda Stephens-Johanns
Scheduling & Crew Dispatch
Rhonda has run scheduling since 2014, back when Top Tree was two crews. Today she routes five to six crews and about sixteen crew members every day, making sure the right team and the right equipment show up to each job.
Kamryn Rodriguez
Bookkeeping & Accounting
Kamryn has been with Top Tree since 2021. She manages the behind-the-scenes operations that keep everything running — and still picks up the phone to help customers whenever needed.
Payton Bate
Front Office Receptionist
Payton joined in spring 2025. She schedules estimate appointments, responds to online inquiries, coordinates communication between customers and estimators, and books the PHC treatment visits.
The Crews
Our crews bring a wide range of experience to every job — some have been with us more than ten years; others are ambitious newer members building their careers in tree care. We invest the time and training for every one of them to develop real skill and confidence in the field, and it shows in the work.
