Tree Trimming & Pruning
Tree Trimming That Keeps Your Trees Healthy, Not Just Shorter
Healthier, safer, better-shaped trees
Pruning That Protects Your Trees
Good pruning is more than making a tree smaller. Cut the wrong branch or top a tree and you weaken it for years. Our crews trim to ANSI A300 standards — the professional benchmark for tree care — because we have certified arborists on staff and the crews are trained to it. Your trees come out healthier, safer, and better-shaped.
You Probably Noticed One of These
- Branches are hanging over the roof, the driveway, or a neighbor's yard.
- The canopy is so thick it blocks light or catches wind.
- Limbs are dead, cracked, or rubbing.
- The shape has gotten away from you and you want it back.
- Shrubs and ornamentals need shaping along with the trees.
Trimming, Thinning, Shaping — and the Shrubs Too
We handle crown thinning and raising, deadwood removal, structural pruning on young trees, and clearance from roofs and lines. We also shape shrubs and ornamentals, so the whole yard gets handled in one visit.
Trimming questions
Questions People Ask About Trimming
When is the best time of year to trim?
We trim year round. On most trees here, structural pruning is best in the dormant season — late fall through winter — when the tree is not actively growing and its structure is easy to see. Dead, damaged, or hazardous limbs come off any time of year. If summer is the wrong window for your particular tree, we will tell you straight at the estimate — and our proposals are good for 90 days, so you can get the estimate now and schedule the work for later.
How often should my trees be trimmed?
Most mature trees want attention every three to five years. Young trees benefit from more frequent structural pruning — it is the cheapest work you will ever do on that tree, because it prevents the expensive corrections later.
Do you trim shrubs and ornamentals too?
Yes. We shape shrubs and ornamentals along with the trees, so the whole yard gets handled in one visit.
Trimming questions
Questions People Ask About Trimming
Why won't you top my tree?
Topping — cutting a tree back to stubs — is the single most damaging thing you can do to it. It invites decay, forces weak regrowth, and shortens the tree’s life. We will tell you honestly what a tree needs instead. Sometimes that is a heavy reduction. It is never topping.
